Owned by New York natives Risa and Robert Frackman, the 52-room Inn in Placencia, Southern Belize, has  impressive distinctions: the most modern, well-equipped and best staffed PADI dive center in the area, complete with 48’ PRO dive boat for daily two-tank dives (and Nitrox Diving) and diving for whale sharks (during Whale Shark Season, April through June); two private islands for “Swept Away” get-away-from-it-all-vacations or day outings, and a sport fishing center with new 23’ skiffs,  licensed guides and instruction and a chance for a “grand slam.”  All of the tours are resort operated so it’s possible to book in late afternoon for the following morning’s outing.

Rooms and suites are spacious and feature air conditioning, ceiling fans, telephones, cable TV, private baths and terraces and rooftop Jacuzzis.   Other resort facilities include two restaurants, three 50-foot freshwater swimming pools, guest Internet and computer center, and Sea Spa.

On the southern peninsula of Belize, Placencia is reached by an under two hour flight from Miami, Dallas, and Houston, or 4 ½ hours from metro New York to Belize City followed by a 35 minute commuter flight.

About Placencia, Belize
Straddling a sandy, palm forested bit of land at the tip of an 18-mile-long sandy strip is Placencia Village, a charming Creole village that, with its sister village of Seine Bight, inhabited primarily by the Garifuna (Carib Africans), comprises the Placencia Peninsula. Here, where the jungle spills out to the sea and where these two fascinating cultures come together are the most beautiful beaches to be found in Belize. On one side of the peninsula sits the beautiful Caribbean Sea with the world’s second largest barrier reef, and on the other side, Placencia Lagoon, a placid waterway harboring abundant marine life. This is the idyllic setting for the Inn at Robert’s Grove.
